Omnivore Pin-up: Cleo, 28, East London

Flirty French fancy, Cleo,  a 28-year-old former arts programmer and now PhD researcher from London, is ploughing her way through Saki, Zola, Foucault and Kafka. For more of an insight into her sensibilities, ask out Cleo via love@theomnivore.com.

What are you reading at the moment?
Sacreligiously a bounty of books, papers and poems including Imagining India by Nandan Nilekani and Émile Zola’s Au Bonheur des Dames en français.

What have you just finished reading?
Saki’s The Byzantine Omelette and Noon in Calcutta, a collection of Bengali short stories which give a charming insight into the city’s sensibilities.

What will you read next?
I have the complete works of Kafka waiting for me. It has crinkle cut pages which I am overly excited about. I should probably be more sensible And start reading for my imminent PhD.

Which author do you have a crush on?
Zadie Smith and Dervla Murphy – my affections for her recently resulted in a 10 course banquet that traced her journey from Full Tilt.
Foucault and Mandeville. Read The Grumbling Hive to see why.

What’s the sexiest thing you’ve ever read?
Judy Blume.
Although you can read sex into anything according to my literary education.

Which book would you give someone you were trying to impress?
Douglas Hofstadter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid. For numerable reasons. Primarily because it made me laugh all the way home from the post office.
