“Things I wish I knew when I started…” Michael Jecks at the Write Idea Festival

November 16, 2013 @ 3:30 pm

| Free

“Things I wish I knew when I started …” A humorous look at the life of an author, with anecdotes about the industry, writing, and how Michael works.

Michael Jecks is the author of thirty-two novels published by Headline and Simon & Schuster. A past chairman of the Crime Writers’ Association, he is also a founder of the Historical Writers’ Association and Medieval Murderers – a performance group of historical crime writers. In quieter moments he has written short stories and novellas for anthologies, and last year published a modern spy ebook, ‘Act of Vengeance’.

He is a regular speaker at libraries and festivals worldwide, and has judged competitions from the CWA/Ian Fleming Steel Dagger to the International Thriller Writers’ Awards. An enthusiastic supporter of new writing, for two years Michael organised the Debut Dagger, helping six writers win their first publishing contracts. Now he tutors students with the Royal Literary Fund.

Michael is currently working on a trilogy set in the Hundred Years War, a novella for the Medieval Murderers’ tenth anniversary book, and preparing a sequel to his modern spy story.

Michael lives on Dartmoor with his family, where he gains his inspiration from the landscape and legends of the moors.
