On Voice: Lavinia Greenlaw, Ali Smith , George Saunders and Erica Wagner at The British Library

March 8, 2014 @ 11:30 am - 12:45 pm

The Folio Society and the British Library are hosting a festival which will feature the Folio Prize judges, shortlisted authors and members of the Academy, who will come together for a rich discussion about the art of storytelling.

Chair of this year’s judges for The Folio Prize, Lavinia Greenlaw is a writer whose work is celebrated for its beautiful precision; Ali Smith is frequently praised for her dazzling wordplay and abundant imagination. Here they will discuss with fellow Academician, critic and author, Erica Wagner, the role of voice in fiction writing, and how perhaps more than any other element it can unlock the magic of a well-told tale. Ali Smith has won awards for both her novels and short story collections, and Lavinia Greenlaw is a prize-winning writer of poetry, fiction, radio drama and non-fiction. Erica Wagner was former literary editor of The Times and is the 2014 Eccles British Library Writer in Residence.
